Since moving to Steamboat in 2013 to attend Colorado Mountain College for his B.S. in Business Administration (and of course, to ski!) Brently has fully embraced the local lifestyle.
He grew up visiting Colorado and skiing in Telluride, and still loves to get out there and ski the steeps when he’s not busy living the Steamboat dream! You’ll catch him around here, making epic powder turns in the winter and shredding singletrack all summer long. You might get a glimpse of him flying by on Creekside trail, one of his local favorites.
He loves teaching people about gear technology and sharing his passion for the outdoors. He’s super stoked when he can help a customer learn something new.
Brently is our in-house optics expert, and likes to remind people that “your eyes are just as important as your brain”. If you’ve got questions about finding the perfect optical solution for you and your situation, Brently is your guy!
You can also ask him for advice on Steamboat bike trails, anything else MTB, and all things sunglasses.

When there’s snow, Brett skis. Every darn day. He’s got 168 days and counting for the 2018/2019 season!
He moved to Steamboat in 2011 to ski as much as possible while attending Colorado Mountain College to ultimately receive a B.A. in Sustainability and an Associates in Ski Business. Growing up in New York as a competitive freestyle skier, he traded the ice coast for Colorado powder days.
In the summer, you’ll catch him commuting to work on his road bike, hiking in the Routt County wilderness, and touring on his skis (of course!). If you’re lucky, you’ll run into him at a Red Rocks show or maybe at one of Steamboat’s free summer concerts.
Brett has a gift for matching people with the perfect piece of gear and he loves helping customers find solutions. Whether you’re battling an issue related to comfort or performance, you can count on Brett to help you figure it out. After a quick chat with Brett and some Expert advice, you’re sure to be skiing or riding with a smile!

Bryan and his family have called Steamboat home since moving from Denver in 2013 and settling in the Yampa Valley. Along with his family, he brought his entrepreneurial spirit and sense of adventure, founding Hard Headed and Sunglasses on Main in 2015 and setting up shop in Old Town Square – the heart of downtown Steamboat Springs.
On a summer day, you might catch him riding Spring Creek, a classic Steamboat mountain biking trail (and a favorite!). In the winter, he looks forward to Sunday morning skate skiing at Haymaker with his wife, kids, and dogs. When not skiing in Steamboat, they enjoy making turns in Telluride.
Bryan has an eye for awesome sunglasses, high-quality gear, and finding just what people are looking for. He aims for his businesses to bring valuable services to the community and give back to the people who live, work, and play here.

Fueled by a passion for outdoor adventure and a focus on safety and helmet technology, Sam has been a part of the Hard Headed team in various roles since 2016. Her background in communications and love for helmets recently inspired her to step down from managing the daily shop operations and focus on marketing and consumer education.
Since witnessing a friend endure a life-changing head-injury on the slopes in 2011, Sam has been educating fellow athletes about helmets and other protective equipment. Her mission is to help people make informed decisions about their own personal safety and prevent head injuries.
She grew up in California and Southern Colorado, looking at the mountains from afar and driving for hours to go skiing. Since living in Steamboat, she’s found a passion for mountain biking and skiing real powder. In the summer, you’ll find Sam biking to work on the Yampa River Core Trail, shredding after-work laps at Steamboat Bike Park, or maybe out for a quick ride on the Hot Spring Trail. In the winter, she’ll be getting powder turns in the trees or shredding green groomers with her toddler-brother.
A helmet-obsessed EMT, Sam is the go-to if you’ve got questions about safety.
